Newcastle based Richard ‘Dox’ Docherty, first picked up a guitar at age 9 and immediately started learning to play, first at school and then, with encouragement from his parents, some additional tutoring.
His love of music continued to grow and develop, and after leaving school, he started to write his own songs, including the poignant ‘Dying Friend’ which he wrote at 17, following the loss of some very close friends.
Following his attendance at a music workshop presented by the Prince’s Trust, Dox enrolled in college to study Music Technology, and it was then he met another student, Marc Playle, whose band - Minnikin - was in need of a vocalist and guitarist. Dox stepped in and was lead vocalist for several years, enjoying a good level of success with the band, before parting ways.
Dox entered the ‘Live & Unsigned’ music contest and reached the grand final, and finishing a very respectable 4th. He subsequently was invited to perform at the O2 Arena in London at the Live & Unsigned ‘LiveFest’ music event.
Definitely one to watch. Dox is not only a very talented musician, but also an outstanding vocalist with a style and tone that is pure classic rock, and an absolute MUST to listen to.
**Dox is currently performing with North East based rock band, Rusted Hero, as well as solo appearances in the North East.
